“Enkidu is my best pal!

A couple of years ago, (Enkidu) started to exhibit some loss of mobility, jumping into the car or onto the bed was no longer possible. Our veterinarian diagnosed arthritis and started him on fish oil, glucosamine and some anti-inflammatory medication. After a few weeks he slowly improved and started to regain his mobility.

Recently, he had some sort of accident that we did not witness.  It looked like he hurt his back.  His mobility was more severely impaired than before.  We did take him to see a chiropractor and he seemed to improve slightly, but the drive was inconvenient and did not seem promising.

My personal massage therapist recommended acupuncture and specifically Pets in Motion Mobile Acupuncture.

Enkidu is a calm patient, especially when presented with frozen chicken baby food! However, he was not always pleased with the needle placement. We witnessed his response to the first acupuncture treatment in the moment! His eyes, which had been vacant and glazed over for weeks, cleared up and woke up while the first treatment was (being) performed.  The treatment made a slight, but significant improvement in his mobility and general energy levels.  We did not notice any negative effects (from the acupuncture treatment).

After several treatments, the improvement has been nothing less than miraculous! He is acting like he is completely pain free.  He can now jump on and off the bed and in and out of the car.  He is also eager to chase balls and swim in the lake again.

By the end of the summer, we were able to take him on a backpacking trip that was several miles over 3 days and he did absolutely great - no issues, just like old times.

We have continued to take him for walks or hikes almost every day and he is always thrilled to be out and on an adventure.

Bubba had a previous experience of acupuncture after having back surgery 7 years ago.  He had a recent injury of unknown origin leaving him almost unable to walk, especially on stairs.  My goal (for acupuncture) was to improve his mobility and comfort without having to take him out of town multiple times a week to a clinic 20 miles away.

(Bubba had) rapid and significant improvement in the first month of acupuncture treatment.  His first and following treatments exceeded expectations as he received a thorough examination and many medical explanations and suggestions for at home care.  He responded well to treatment with some minor discomfort at the injury site and he was tired the next day.  He has improved greatly and is walking unaided, though we realize, at age 13, that he may experience some lameness for some time.
